Directed by Craig Gillespie, this sci-fi adventure tries to steer away from the usual bubbly superhero tropes and goes for a slightly grittier, cosmic vibe. Unlike her cousin Superman, who got raised in a cozy Kansas farm with loving adoptive parents, Kara Zor-El’s backstory is way darker. In this 2026 version, we see a very different side of her. When a brutal and ruthless enemy strikes way too close to home, Kara has to leave her comfort zone. Instead of just saving cats from trees, she reluctantly teams up with a pretty unexpected companion.

What follows is a massive, planet-hopping journey across the cosmos. It is less about being a friendly neighborhood savior and more of a raw, angry quest for vengeance and justice. If you are expecting the usual sweet, smiling Kara, you are in for a bit of a surprise. This girl has a major chip on her shoulder, and honestly, we don’t blame her.

Honest Review: The Good, The Bad, and The Meh

Let’s start with the best part—Milly Alcock. She is absolutely fantastic as Supergirl. She brings this raw, badass energy that makes you root for her instantly. You can feel her pain, her anger, and her sheer power. Craig Gillespie’s direction also keeps the pacing fairly decent, so you won’t really get bored.

But not gonna lie, the movie has some glaring issues. First off, why is almost the entire movie shot in low light? I get that they wanted a gritty, atmospheric feel, but sometimes it was so dark I could barely see what was happening on screen. It gets a bit annoying after a point.

And let’s talk about the makeup. The look for Lobo was… well, pretty disappointing. Instead of looking like a badass, menacing alien, it literally looked like a guy wearing cheap comic-con makeup. You expect way better CGI and practical effects from a big-budget DC movie in 2026.

Also, as a comic fan, I really wished they showed more of her origin story. Seeing her actually learn the ropes from Superman or showing their dynamic would have added so much more emotional weight to her character. Instead, we are just thrown straight into the cosmic action.

Verdict: Is it a Paisa Vasool Watch?

Worth a watch? Yeah, absolutely. It’s a solid time-pass entertainer, especially if you love sci-fi adventures. Just don’t go in expecting a masterpiece. It’s a decent 6.1/10 kind of film that works best as a weekend watch with your friends. Milly’s performance alone makes it worth checking out at least once.
