The Story So Far

So, what is actually happening in Westeros? If you need a quick recap, the whole Targaryen empire was at its absolute peak with more than 15 dragons flying around. But then King Viserys messed up by breaking age-old tradition and naming his daughter, Rhaenyra, as the heir to the Iron Throne.

Things got super messy when he later had a son, Aegon. Now, the realm is split right down the middle. It is Rhaenyra’s camp (the Blacks) vs. Alicent’s camp (the Greens). This season basically takes this massive civil war—the famous Dance of the Dragons—to the next level. Expect more backstabbing, bloody battles, and dragons literally roasting everything in sight.

My Honest Review: Worth the Hype?

Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical if they could keep up the momentum after the crazy finale of the previous season. But man, the tension in this season is real. The show does a brilliant job of showing how greed and pride can destroy the most powerful family in Westeros.

Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra is just phenomenal. The silence and the rage in her eyes? Absolute chef’s kiss. And Matt Smith as Daemon is, as usual, doing his own bindaas thing, being chaotic and cool at the same time. Olivia Cooke also brings so much depth to Alicent, making you kind of feel bad for her even when you want to scream at her screen choices.

The CGI on the dragons is top-tier. Every time they lock horns, it feels like a proper big-screen event right on your phone or TV screen.

Is it perfect? Well, sometimes the pacing gets a bit slow in the middle when they sit around roundtables discussing alliances. Kinda dragged in a few talking scenes, tbh. But whenever the dragons show up, it is absolute bawaal. If you loved Game of Thrones, this is a must-watch OTT release.
